At Sorrentino Mariani, we are as dedicated to environmental stewardship as we are to building a superior furniture product. Our green practices focus on the three R's: reduce, reuse and recycle.
Building furniture requires the harvesting of trees. We reduce our impact on our forests by using wood harvested only from Sustainable Forests and work with suppliers who practice reforestation. We also help diminish the felling of more trees by recycling and reusing our furniture.
Our environmental efforts also include the use of green finishes, substrates and glue as well as practices that reduce our carbon footprint and eliminate additional waste at our landfills.
Sustainable Harvesting
Sorrentino Mariani only buys solid wood, panel products and veneers from trees grown in Sustainable Forests. Contact us to source your project in Certified Sustainable wood.
Low VOC & HAPS Free
All products used in our finishing process are certified low VOC and HAPS free. These finishes ensure the highest workmanship and durability while promoting better air quality.
Reforestation
We purchase wood products primarily from suppliers certified by the Appalachian Hardwood Association, who, on average, plant three trees for every one harvested.
Recycle & Reuse
The durability of furniture and its ease of rehabilitation means few pieces end up in landfills. We refurbish and donate our reject, broken and refurbished furniture to local organizations in need.
Local Suppliers
Most raw materials ship to our factory from suppliers located within 500 miles of our factory. This reduces carbon fuel use and lowers our freight-in environmental impact.
Shipping
Sorrentino Mariani corner blocks and blanket wraps our furniture at time of loading. This reusable packaging method eliminates trips to the landfill and associated refuse costs.
No Added Formaldehyde
Our substrates and wood glue offerings include no-added formaldehyde products. Our glue is safer to use than traditional glues and our substrates support LEED credits.
